YOGA AND AYURVEDA RETREAT DAY, 24 APRIL 2016 SUNNINGDALE SHALA, CANN, SHAFTESBURY, DORSET
Discover the joys and benefits of the two ancient sister sciences of yoga and Ayurveda with this exciting day long retreat day to nourish your senses, calm body, mind and spirit at Marie’s Shala in Cann, Shaftesbury.
The schedule will comprise:
Welcome and settling in time
A 90 minute HATHA FLOW YOGA practice that resonates with balancing the Ayurvedic ‘kapha’ dosha that dominates during the spring season. This will include an appropriate pranayama breathing exercise.
CHAI break: Home made and delicious chai or Ayurvedic tea for your refreshment.
AYURVEDIC WORKSHOP. Discover your Ayurvedic mind-body nature with a dosha quiz and pulse analysis. Understand how to maintain equilibrium and well-being with this holistic Indian healing system that helps to maintain health by nipping things in the bud before they manifest as bigger problems. Take away tips and guidance on how to create a lifestyle that supports your unique inner nature as well and learn how to recognize and understand how all the mind-body types influence you. Experiential time with discussion on how you can use this knowledge to develop a home yoga practice that is sustainable for you.
LUNCH. Obviously Ayurvedic! Vegetarian and sattvic to nourish your digestive system.
MEDITATION time. A mindfulness based walking meditation in the garden (weather permitting). If it is too wet and soggy a trataka candle gazing practice. Guidance will be given so even if you are unfamiliar with meditation, you will find your way with ease.
YIN YOGA practice (60 minutes). An intensely calming practice to complement the earlier yang practice.
YOGA NIDRA. A closing session of intense yogic sleep to allow you to absorb the full essence of the retreat day.
