Pregnancy yoga is specially tailored around all the incredible changes a woman's body, mind and spirit make as it transforms to sustain a new life. During this sacred time the mother is gently guided through a yoga practice designed to nurture and respect the healthy growth of her baby. Poses and sequences are chosen to reflect the individual's physiological, emotional and mental needs appropriate to each phase of pregnancy. The mother is empowered to feel comfortable, confident and safe and well prepared for a relaxed delivery.
You will be guided in breathing practices, visualisations and movement skills that will assist you through your labour and provide you with the inner resources to feel calm and in control of your birth experience.
Discover a sense of peace again with your own body through gentle, targetted post-natal yoga. Emphasis is placed on strengthening the core and the weak areas whilst acknowledging that hormonally there is still a lot going on. The yoga will work gradually with you in guiding yourself back into a body you feel more comfortable with. Perhaps even more so than your pre-pregnancy one! Your mind too will be encouraged to stay focussed as you face the new delightful challenges of parenthood. Classes are suitable for anyone up to about a year post birth - it can take that long for the body to readust. If you are breast-feeding longer then you may find a post-natal well woman group more amenable too.
